ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Federal Minister for Power Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari issued clear instructions to all electricity distribution companies (DISCOs), including K-Electric, to ensure a seamless power supply during Sehri and Iftar throughout the holy month of Ramazan.
The Power Division announced that detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been dispatched to all DISCOs to support consumers during this period.
Minister Leghari emphasized the importance of quick resolution of consumer grievances and directed chief executive officers to establish dedicated control centers for efficient monitoring and rapid response to issues.
Additionally, he called for strict action against areas with high power line losses, aligning with the ongoing anti-power theft campaign. Nonetheless, it was reiterated that load-shedding would be avoided during Sehri and Iftar times, even in high-loss zones.
The Power Division highlighted that these measures aim to prevent increases in recovery backlog and system losses, while providing maximum relief to electricity users during Ramazan.
It was also agreed that load management in high-loss regions would be scheduled outside of Sehri and Iftar hours. DISCOs have been instructed to eliminate unannounced load-shedding and maintain transparency in schedule implementation throughout the month.
