MUZAFFARABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party has filed a no-confidence motion against Azad Kashmir’s Prime Minister, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq. This marks the conclusion of a 30-month alliance between the People’s Party, the PML-N, and Anwarul Haq.

Faisal Rathore is set to become the fourth Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir within a span of four years. The motion was officially submitted to Senior Special Secretary Amjad Abbasi in the Legislative Assembly by Assembly members Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, Javed Ayub, and Malik Zafar.

Anwarul Haq is reportedly considering resignation before the assembly votes on the motion. The Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly consists of 53 members, with 36 now backing the no-confidence motion initiated by the People’s Party.

Initially holding 17 seats in the assembly, the People’s Party has gained support from an additional 10 members coming from Barrister Sultan’s group and the Forward Bloc. The PML-N has also announced its alignment with the People’s Party, bringing its 9 members into the coalition.

Together, the People’s Party and the PML-N have consolidated their position with 36 assembly members in support of the motion.
