ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party leader Ghulam Mustafa elected Deputy Speaker National Assembly, obtained 197 votes
Ghulam Mustafa Shah of PPP was elected Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. The meeting for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly was chaired by Raja Pervez Ashraf. After Ayaz Sadiq was elected as the Speaker of the National Assembly, voting was held for the election of the Deputy Speaker, after which the process of counting the votes began. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq announced the results of the election of the Deputy Speaker that a total of 290 votes were cast, Ghulam Mustafa Shah of the People’s Party got 197 votes of the members of the National Assembly. On the other hand, Junaid Akbar of Sunni Unity Council got 92 votes. Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah was elected Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly with 197 votes and he also took the oath of office.
After taking the oath of Deputy Speaker, Ghulam Mustafa Shah said that ” I am thankful to Asif Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto, Faryal Talpur for nominating him as Deputy Speaker, I am also thankful to PML-N, MQM, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and others”.
Newly elected Deputy Speaker further said that he is grateful to the opposition for participating in the election of the Deputy Speaker. Earlier, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was elected Speaker by getting 199 votes while Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, the candidate of Sunni Ittehad Council, got 91 votes against him.
