ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have expressed strong condemnation of the unprovoked cross-border attacks on Pakistani border posts originating from Afghan territory.
The president, in a statement, described these actions as a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty. He emphasized that such incidents disrupt regional peace and strain friendly relations between the two nations.
Acknowledging the valor and professionalism of the Pakistani armed forces, the president commended their effective defense during the attacks in Spin Boldak and the Kurram sector.
He underscored concerns about the Afghan Taliban government repeatedly violating the Doha Agreement and providing safe havens to terrorists, who pose a threat to stability across the region.
The president urged Afghan authorities to prevent their territory from being used for terrorism and anti-Pakistan activities.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in a separate statement, also voiced serious concerns over provocations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border by the Afghan Taliban, Fitna-al-Hindustan, and Fitna-al-Khawarij.
He lauded Pakistan Army’s decisive response to the aggression and reaffirmed that the country’s sovereignty would be safeguarded at all costs. The prime minister condemned the use of Afghan soil for terrorism in Pakistan, calling such acts unacceptable.
