CHITRAL: Nine members of a single family lost their lives, and a child was injured, when an avalanche hit the Arandu area in Lower Chitral district on Friday. Rescue 1122 teams retrieved the bodies of five men and four women from the debris.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have both expressed their profound sorrow and condolences over the tragic incident in Chitral. In separate statements, they extended their sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the souls of those who perished.
The President issued directives to federal, provincial, and local authorities to expedite relief and rescue operations in the affected zones, emphasizing the importance of ongoing communication with the public to keep them informed.
Similarly, the Prime Minister instructed relevant federal agencies to accelerate aid efforts in collaboration with provincial authorities. He also asked the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority to closely oversee the situation in the mountainous regions of the country, especially in light of recent heavy snowfall, and to coordinate efforts to address any emergent crises effectively.
