ISLAMABAD: Police Martyrs’ Day is being observed across Pakistan today to honour police officers and personnel who sacrificed their lives while performing their duties and to express solidarity with their families.
Commemorative events, including guard of honour ceremonies and wreath-laying tributes, are being held at police lines and memorials nationwide.
In separate messages, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the fallen police personnel, praising their courage, unwavering commitment, and sacrifices made to safeguard the country’s peace and security.
President Zardari said the police continue to stand at the forefront in the fight against crime, terrorism, and extremism. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening police institutions through better training, modern technology, and improved resources to help officers perform their duties more effectively.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the welfare of police martyrs’ families remains a top government priority. He pledged continued support through quality education for their children, improved healthcare services, and expanded welfare programmes, reaffirming the government’s commitment to standing by the families of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
