ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari is set to participate in the three-day Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, organized under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly, starting Tuesday.

The summit will convene global leaders and policymakers to address strategies for advancing social development, fostering decent work and employment opportunities, and enhancing inclusive safety nets.
During the event, the President will engage in significant discussions with international and regional leaders, including Qatari officials, as well as heads of major multilateral organizations such as the United Nations and other prominent international bodies.
Asif Ali Zardari plans to highlight Pakistan’s dedication to inclusive growth and promoting social protection, emphasizing the role of the Benazir Income Support Programme in tackling poverty and enhancing resilience for vulnerable groups.
The President will also stress Pakistan’s intention to collaborate closely with development partners and multilateral institutions. He will explore avenues to secure funding for social protection and green employment through mechanisms like the SDG Stimulus, debt-for-social or climate swaps, and South-South cooperation under China’s Global Development Initiative.
Zardari is expected to reaffirm Pakistan’s resolve to transform the outcomes of the Doha Summit into tangible actions, bolstering social protection systems and promoting sustainable, inclusive economic growth.
