President writes letter to CEC suggesting to hold election on November 6

Islamabad: President Dr Arif Alvi has given a suggestion to hold general elections on November 6 this year.

In his letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, the President said that it is an authority of President to fix date of election within 90 days.

Dr Arif Alvi apprised the CEC in his letter that the CEC was called for a meeting to fulfil his constitutional duty so that a procedure could be set for implementing constitution and its order.

The CEC had adopted a parallel view that the holding of elections is the ECP authority.

The President directed the CEC” Take guidance from top judiciary for holding elections in all assemblies on a same day.” adding that the ECP be abide by constitutional and legal measures for holding of elections justly and transparent.
