Law Ministry opinion sought by President on CEC point of view on elections date

Islamabad: Aiwan-e-Sadar has asked opinion of the law and justice ministry over Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja respond on President Dr Arif Alvi letter to him seeking meeting to fix date for general elections.

The President house has written a letter to the secretory of Law and Justice ministry. The President has asked the ministry opinion on the CEC point of view on elections date.

Earlier in the day, the CEC has written responding letter to the President apprising that after amendment in the election act, the ECP has an authority to fix the date for general election and it does’nt require any consultation with the President.
