President Zardari, PM Sharif reaffirm commitment to human rights

ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of World Human Rights Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized their dedication to safeguarding and advancing human rights across Pakistan. They reiterated their pledge to uphold the dignity, freedom, and self-respect of every citizen.

In his message, the President highlighted that Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees every individual the right to freedom, regardless of caste, creed, or race. Similarly, the Prime Minister stated that the government remains firmly committed to protecting fundamental human rights, emphasizing equality and respect for human dignity for all Pakistanis.

Meanwhile, Amir Muqam, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, underlined the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions to ensure regional peace. Speaking at an event in Islamabad commemorating World Human Rights Day, he condemned the ongoing human rights abuses in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Paying homage to the sacrifices of the people of IIOJK, Muqam highlighted that despite severe oppression, their determination for self-determination remains unbroken. He also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s consistent efforts to raise the Kashmir dispute on the international stage, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri struggle.
