ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to upholding and advancing human rights while ensuring the protection of liberty, dignity, and self-respect for all citizens.
In a message marking World Human Rights Day, being observed today, the President emphasized that Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees freedom for all citizens, irrespective of caste, creed, or color.
The Prime Minister, in his statement, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding fundamental human rights, particularly emphasizing the protection of human dignity and promoting equal opportunities for everyone.
In a related development, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam stressed the urgent need to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions to ensure peace in the region.
Speaking at an event in Islamabad commemorating World Human Rights Day, he shed light on the grave human rights violations occurring in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Honoring the sacrifices made by the people of IIOJK, he stated that no level of oppression has been able to deter their determination for achieving the right to self-determination.
He also highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif continues to raise the Kashmir issue on international platforms, reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people.
