PM, Army chief agree on ‘no-first-strike’ strategy

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday deliberated over Pakistan’s strategy over possible aggression from India and agreed that Pakistan will not go for strike first strategy.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned COAS from New York and discussed with him Pakistan’s strategy to any external aggression.

During the discussion, it was agreed that Pakistan will not go for strike first, but will forcefully defend if any aggression was made.

It was also decided that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will invite India for dialogue but the basic agenda of the dialogue will be Kashmir issue.

They also agreed that Pakistan should maintain the moral supremacy by sticking to no first strike policy viz a viz its neighbour. But in case of any aggression, the armed forces will forcefully respond and will resort to all available option for the defense of the country.

It was also decided that the already extended invitation to Prime Minister to attent SAARC summit in Islamabad will remain intact.
