Prominent political leaders gather in mourning at Sherry Rehman’s daughter’s funeral

KARACHI: Karachi was enveloped in grief as prominent political leaders and officials gathered to pay their respects at the funeral of Marvi Malik, the daughter of Sherry Rehman. The somber event saw heartfelt condolences from across the political landscape, underscoring the deep sorrow felt over the tragic loss.

The funeral prayer was led in the presence of notable personalities including Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. Other distinguished attendees included Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, ex-Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani, Senator Nadeem Bhutto, Nayyar Bukhari, and several senior politicians and community leaders.

Among those present were Nadeem Afzal Chan, Senator Saleem Mandviwala, Shabbar Zaidi, PML-N’s Ishtiaq Baig, Senator Shahadat Awan, Olympian Islahuddin Siddiqui, and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ghulam Mustafa Shah. Provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Saeed Ghani, along with Senator Waqar Mehdi, MNA Abdul Qadir Patel, and Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister Ali Rashid also participated in the solemn occasion.

Sindh Governor Extends Condolences

Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi visited Sherry Rehman and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. He prayed for the departed’s forgiveness, elevated status in the hereafter, and strength for the family to endure their loss. The governor emphasized that in this difficult time, the entire community shares in their grief.

Leaders and workers of the PPP, including Raza Rabbani, Saeed Ghani, and Senator Waqar Mehdi, visited Rehman’s residence to offer their condolences. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and Sharjeel Inam Memon were also present to support the family during their time of mourning.

Funeral Service and Reflections on National Issues

The funeral prayer was held with a significant turnout of political figures and community members. During the proceedings, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi addressed the media, touching on regional and national concerns.

Kundi emphasized that Eid holidays had concluded, calling for austerity measures across provinces and at the federal level. He noted that KP’s Chief Minister had already announced such policies and stressed the importance of their implementation. Despite regional conflicts, he maintained that Pakistan’s strategic approach has helped safeguard the nation.

He reaffirmed that national security remains a top priority and warned that any actionable intelligence regarding terrorists would prompt decisive action. Kundi also 

accused Afghanistan of being repeatedly informed that India and Israel were leveraging its territory against Pakistan.

Remarks on the Doha Agreement and Regional Diplomacy

Kundi further claimed that the Doha Agreement was being violated and highlighted ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region, including a temporary ceasefire requested by allied nations. He stressed the importance of regional stability and the need to monitor developments closely.
