PSX closes for week-long Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays, celebrating festive spirit

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) is set to resume trading next Thursday after a week-long break for Eid-ul-Fitr festivities. Typically, Friday marks the end of the trading week at the PSX; however, this week the markets remained closed in observance of Jumat-ul-Wida.

During the last trading session before the holidays, bullish momentum continued in the PSX, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index reaching 118,147, thanks to a gain of over 375 points in the early hours of trading.

The day saw a low of 117,551 before the market rebounded, ultimately closing at 117,806 points.

Broad-based buying was evident across key sectors, including commercial banks, fertilisers, power generation, and oil and gas exploration companies.

ALL-TIME HIGH

On March 21, the PSX achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing the 119,000 mark. At one point, the KSE-100 Index peaked at 119,405, with a low of 118,638, before settling at 118,442 points for the day.

The PSX’s bullish trend had been notable, reaching an all-time high as the KSE-100 Index climbed to 119,304.24 during intraday trading, reflecting an impressive gain of 1,330.22 points or 1.13 percent.

By the end of that trading day, the key index closed at 118,769 points, affirming the market’s positive outlook.
