KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange, Asian stock markets witnessed a sharp downturn on Thursday as rising tensions in the Middle East dampened investor sentiment across the region.
At the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the benchmark KSE-100 Index declined by around 2%, reflecting strong selling pressure.
Other major regional markets also recorded notable losses:
Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell by 3.5%
South Korea’s KOSPI dropped 2.72%
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index slipped by 2%
India’s BSE Sensex declined by 2.25%
Analysts attributed the widespread losses to heightened geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East, which has raised concerns over global energy supply disruptions and economic stability.
