ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched the second phase of its trial to block illegal Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) operating within the country.
The initiative aims to curb the growing misuse of unauthorized VPNs, which are often used to bypass government-imposed restrictions and engage in illegal activities online.
The trial will involve the identification and blocking of unregistered VPN services that fail to comply with regulatory requirements. PTA officials have emphasized that this move is part of a broader strategy to enhance cybersecurity, protect national interests, and ensure a safer digital environment for all users.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has also urged businesses and individuals to ensure that their VPN services are registered with the relevant authorities to avoid disruptions. The authority continues to collaborate with stakeholders to strike a balance between enforcing digital regulations and safeguarding internet freedom.
