ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has decided to file a reference against Election Commission of Pakistan’s Chief and four other members.
According to the detail, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has decided to file a reference against Chief Election Commission and four other members of ECP.
The decision follows growing discontent within the party regarding electoral processes and the commission’s conduct.
Ex Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Imran Khan designated Ali Zafar to represent the party in this high-stakes legal move. The reference, which is scheduled to be submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council on Monday, seeks the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner and his colleagues from their positions.
Moreover, the reference will address changes made to the Election Tribunal in Islamabad, which PTI contends were unjustified. The party plans to critique the ECP’s interpretation of a recent Supreme Court judgment, arguing that the Commission has misrepresented several aspects of the ruling.
Specific points related to the Supreme Court’s directives on reserved seats will also be scrutinized in the reference
