PTI extend deep concern over Imran Khan’s health, demand access to IK

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political committee issued a strong statement on Sunday, urging the immediate restoration of access to party founder Imran Khan, citing growing public concerns over his health and safety.

The committee emphasized that the well-being of Imran Khan is of utmost importance, calling for transparent and accountable access for his family, legal team, and party officials.

The statement urged both the federal and Punjab governments, as well as jail authorities, to provide regular and clear updates on Imran Khan’s health status. Additionally, the committee appealed to the judiciary to ensure the protection of Khan’s fundamental rights and the implementation of robust security measures during his detention.

In a stern warning, the committee held the Prime Minister, Punjab Chief Minister, and relevant state institutions fully accountable for any lapses that could jeopardize the safety and security of the PTI founder.

Earlier in the day, authorities at Adiala Jail clarified that Imran Khan was in good health. This clarification followed rumors suggesting that Khan had been transferred to another location. Sources confirmed that Khan was currently being held in a cell under the jurisdiction of the New Town Police Station. He remains on physical remand until December 2 in connection with a case registered after the September 28 protest.

Jail officials assured that Khan was receiving daily medical checkups, with his blood pressure and sugar levels reported as normal. They also confirmed that the PTI founder is maintaining his fitness regimen with regular exercise twice a day. Following jail manual guidelines, authorities stated that all necessary facilities were being provided, with special attention to Khan’s diet and overall well-being. They emphasized that the necessary arrangements were made to ensure his comfort and health.

In a separate legal development, on December 30, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore convicted Imran Khan in connection with the events of May 9. The court denied his bail in eight separate cases. The detailed six-page ruling by Judge Manzar Ali Gul cited significant evidence against Khan, including audio and video recordings in which he allegedly incited violent actions during the protests.
