LAHORE: Addressing the newly elected assembly members, he strongly criticized the PTI’s tenure, describing it as a period defined by chaos and mismanagement that drove the country toward financial ruin. He highlighted that under PTI’s governance, inflation surged to an alarming 39% compared to just 3% during the term of the PML-N.
He elaborated on the extensive damage caused during the PTI government, citing widespread corruption and economic instability that left the nation on the brink of bankruptcy. According to him, the people have now turned away from PTI as a result of its failures.
Mian Nawaz Sharif, leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), expressed skepticism about PTI’s declared election boycott during the Punjab by-elections, noting that Omar Ayub’s wife actively participated in the contests. He questioned the credibility of such a stance while pointing out this contradiction.
He held PTI fully responsible for the country’s decline between 2018 and 2022, accusing its leadership of disregarding merit, promoting nepotism, and fostering an environment of incompetence. He emphasized that the party’s founder must answer for these shortcomings.
Nawaz Sharif also noted that the public had resoundingly rejected PTI’s divisive and deceptive politics during the Punjab by-elections. He congratulated assembly members for overcoming a narrative rooted in lies, chaos, and divisiveness.
He further outlined positive strides being made under the current administration, citing initiatives grounded in merit, infrastructure projects like roads and green buses, enhanced law and order, and fair distribution of resources such as laptops and ration cards without discrimination. He assured that additional development initiatives are underway to further improve the well-being of the people.
