PTI declares nationwide demonstrations against the government

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced on Saturday a series of protests across Pakistan, according to PTI Senator Ali Zafar

Senator Ali Zafar clarified that these protests will not be confined to Islamabad but will take place throughout the country. He explained that Khan feels “cornered” with limited options and has decided to take to the streets. The PTI leader, currently imprisoned, is expected to issue all instructions for the protest movement from jail. The senator further revealed that Khan has entrusted him with creating a comprehensive plan for the protests, which will be presented at their next meeting. Describing the upcoming movement as unprecedented, Zafar acknowledged potential challenges but emphasized that the party is ready to handle them. A detailed strategy is expected to be finalized within the next few days.

Ali Zafar also expressed hope that there might be judicial relief in the upcoming hearing scheduled for June 5, 2025, though he admitted that the outcome remains uncertain. In other developments, PTI has resolved internal differences between Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, ARY News reported citing sources.

Sources said that a key leadership meeting in Islamabad, attended by Imran Khan’s three sisters, Gandapur, and party lawyers, focused on unifying the party to accelerate efforts for Khan’s release from Adiala Jail. Aleema Khan clarified that she and her sisters are not politically active but will support their brother’s cause. The leadership agreed to strengthen the campaign for Khan’s freedom and instructed PTI lawmakers to participate in court proceedings related to his cases.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan expressed optimism about the possibility of Imran Khan’s release before Eidul Adha. “We are doing our best and praying that Allah will make a way,” he told reporters in Islamabad. Gohar emphasized that the concerns of PTI supporters about Khan’s continued detention are justified, questioning why the party founder has been imprisoned for two years without clear reasons.
