PTI leader Raja Basharat detained in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police detained PTI leader Raja Basharat on Thursday, Basharat had appeared at an election tribunal to participate in a hearing for NA-55 but was taken into custody. 

In response to his detention, Basharat stated that his bail had been confirmed in all cases and condemned the arrest as an attempt to intimidate him through unfair tactics. After being detained at the tribunal office, he was later released and transported to the New Town police station.

Meanwhile, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi issued arrest warrants for multiple PTI leaders over cases linked to the November protests. Among those targeted are Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, former President Arif Alvi, and several other senior PTI officials. 

The warrants also include MNA Shahid Khattak, former Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid, Faisal Amin Khan Gandapur, Wahab Alvi, Hammad Azhar, Omar Ayub Khan, Shehryar Riaz, and Asad Qaiser. These warrants are related to three cases connected to the November protests, with Aleema Khan and Azam Swati also named in the proceedings.
