PTI leadership guards, armed protesters opened fire blindly during protest: Interior Ministry

Islamabad: The Interior Ministry in its clarification on Sunday said that guards deputed to protection of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership and armed protesters opened fire blindly while the PTI leadership instead of settling the matter run away from the scene.

The Interior Ministry further said that army didn’t come in contact with violent crowd while the Pakistan army was not deputed for tackling the riot.

Moreover it adds that Police and Rangers didn’t use arms and ammunition for dispersing the crowd.

Whereas the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) protected the citizens keeping their lives in danger.

On the orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in view of visit of Belarus President and a high level delegation visit of Chinese, the government a many time contacted the PTI leadership to convince them to postpone the protest.

The Interior Ministry said that the protesters violated the law while entering into the redzone instead of Sangjani.
Violent protesters targeted LEAs personnel deputed on duty from Peshawar to redzone.

The protesters used arms, slingshots, stun grenades, tear gas, stick .While the resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP) were also used.

In its press release, the interior ministry said that trained miscreants and illegal Afghan citizens were included in the violent PTI protest. These 1500 miscreants were active under absconder Murad Saeed who himself with them.

The interior ministry apprised that army was deployed under article 245 of the constitution. While aim of the deployment was protection of vital installations, protection of foreign ambassadors and providing and ensuring protected atmosphere for foreign delegations.

The interior Ministry said that the PTI has started a planned propaganda in which directly LEAs were being held responsible of alleged deaths.

Whereas all the administration of major hospitals of the federal government have denied reports of killing of people.
