ISLAMABAD: A delegation from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. The meeting was attended by opposition leader Umar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Sheram Khan Tarki, and Akhundzada Hussain.
According to sources, the discussion centered on the overall political situation in the country. During the meeting, both parties agreed to strengthen their communication and move forward together.
After the meeting, a joint media briefing was held, where JUI’s Kamran Murtaza announced the formation of a two-member committee, comprising himself and Asad Qaiser, to enhance mutual communication. He stated that this committee would aim to resolve misunderstandings and bring the two parties closer. It was agreed that for now, a ceasefire would be observed and no conflicting statements would be made.
PTI’s General Secretary, Salman Akram Raja, mentioned that Maulana Fazlur Rehman had promised another meeting and expressed that there are possibilities for both parties to move forward together.
