LAHORE: The Punjab government has issued an official notification outlining updated school hours for all public educational institutions across the province, effective from the reopening date of August 15 following the summer holidays.
According to the School Education Department’s directive, schools operating on a single-shift system will begin classes at 7:30 AM and conclude by 1:00 PM from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, these schools will close earlier at 11:30 AM.
For institutions running on a double-shift system, the morning session will run from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, with an early closure at 11:30 AM on Fridays. The afternoon shift will start at 2:00 PM and end at 6:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays, it will operate from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
The updated schedule aims to ensure a seamless transition back to academic activities while taking into account weather conditions and logistical considerations across the region.
Meanwhile, the Sindh School Education & Literacy Department has also announced new timings for schools and colleges in the province, as reported by ARY News.Effective from August 1, 2025, these revised timings will apply to both public and private institutions at primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels, as well as colleges, in preparation for the resumption of classes after the summer break ends on July 31.
For single-shift primary schools, classes will be held from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Thursday and on Saturdays, with Fridays ending at 12:00 PM. Double-shift primary schools will operate the first shift from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM (Monday to Thursday and Saturday), finishing at 12:00 PM on Fridays, while the second shift will run from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM daily.
