LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly has approved a bill for a significant salary increase for its members through a majority vote.
Following approval from the Governor of Punjab, Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) will receive a 526% salary increase.
The bill for revising the salaries of public representatives was presented by the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman.
The bill, approved by a majority vote, includes salary increases for MPAs, ministers, the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, special assistants, and advisors.
After the revision, an MPA’s salary will increase from PKR 76,000 to PKR 400,000.
According to the revised bill:
- The Speaker’s salary will increase from PKR 125,000 to PKR 950,000.
- A minister’s salary will rise from PKR 100,000 to PKR 960,000.
- The Deputy Speaker’s salary will rise from PKR 120,000 to PKR 775,000.
- The Parliamentary Secretary’s salary will increase from PKR 83,000 to PKR 451,000.
- The Chief Minister’s Advisor’s salary will rise from PKR 100,000 to PKR 665,000.
- The Chief Minister’s Special Assistant’s salary will increase from PKR 100,000 to PKR 665,000.
