LAHORE: The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has declared that vehicles lacking “Green Stickers” will be prohibited from operating on roads starting November 15.
Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, Director General of the EPA, emphasized that exhaust testing is now mandatory for all vehicles in Lahore to curb air pollution in the city. He stated that a stringent crackdown will target vehicles contributing to environmental degradation.
Beginning November 15, vehicles found without an Exhaust Testing System (ETS) certificate or green sticker will be impounded. Only those meeting Punjab’s environmental standards will be allowed on the roads, Dr. Sheikh confirmed.
The EPA has stressed that both emissions and noise testing are compulsory for vehicle owners.
According to the Punjab EPA Director, the ETS program was officially launched in July 2024, aimed at regulating vehicular pollution ahead of the smog season. In its initial phase, vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2015 are being prioritized for enforcement.
