LAHORE: The Punjab Cabinet has formally approved the ban on the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan. The decision was made during a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
During the session, several key decisions were taken, including the approval of recruitment of teachers for government schools, the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025, and a subsidy program under the High-Tech Farm Mechanization Finance Program.
The cabinet also approved the implementation of QR codes for retailers under the Prime Minister’s Cashless Strategy, the MOU for the Mahrab Safe Roshan Punjab initiative, and agricultural cooperation with Egypt.
Additionally, the cabinet approved the formation of the Punjab Center of Excellence for Countering Violence and Extremism, proposed traffic fines and point system, funds for constructing a museum and memorial at the National Bank Park, and the restoration, improvement, and upgrade of Lahore Museum through a master plan.
The provincial cabinet authorized the recruitment of staff for cardiology labs established in district hospitals, appointments within the Punjab Service Tribunal, the appointment of the CEO of Punjab Land Development Company Limited, extension of contracts for employees at the Biomedical Equipment Resource Center, reallocation of funds for the Green Pakistan Program, and the establishment of the University of Hafizabad.
The cabinet rejected proposals to increase fares for electric buses in Multan, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. It also officially confirmed the ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, approved an MOU for the Lahore to Rawalpindi high-speed rail project, and sanctioned the formation of Private Limited Company for Punjab Airlines.
Furthermore, the cabinet approved the laying of the foundation stone for Gojranwala Mass Transit Authority and granted exemption for the Gojranwala Mass Transit Project from the Central Development Working Party.
