LAHORE: Billions of rupees were embezzled in Ashiana Projects in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Sahiwal due to negligence of the provincial government.
Residents of Ashiana Housing Scheme in Lahore complaint that substandard material used in the constructions. They were of the view that main holes were uncovered in the society and children were banned in the park. They also complaint about insufficient security.
Faisalabad Ashiana Housing Scheme was inaugurated five years ago but could not be completed till today. Punjab government had claimed to complete the project within two years at that time. The promise is yet to be fulfilled.
Ashiana Housing Scheme in Sargodha was inaugurated six years ago. Punjab Land Development Company disappeared from the area after construction of only eight model houses.
The provincial government also failed to complete Ashiana Housing Scheme in Sahiwal. Citizens still submitting their installments regularly but the government could construct only 110 houses despite passing the period of three-year.
People are disappointed as the Punjab government abandoned the Ashiana Housing Schemes.
