LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced a major breakthrough in artificial rain technology, marking a significant advancement in efforts to combat smog-related challenges in the region.

The success follows a cloud seeding experiment using locally developed techniques, which was officially confirm by the Meteorological Department. The artificial rain occurred in the areas of Jhelum and Gujar Khan, following cloud seeding operations carried out in Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, and Gujar Khan. Experts noted that the operation, conducted at 2 PM, resulted in rainfall within a few hours. Authorities are hopeful that similar effects will see in Lahore and other cities.

The project was the result of a collaborative effort involving multiple stakeholders, including the Pakistan Army’s Scientific Research and Development (SPD) unit, Army Aviation, PARCO, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Punjab government.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, hailed the success as a historic achievement for the province, commending the dedication and expertise of all those involved. “This remarkable achievement sets a new standard for technological innovation in Punjab. The entire nation takes pride in this milestone,” she stated.
