Punjab IG Dr. Usman Anwar Warns of Sabotage and Calls for Heightened Security Ahead of Eidul Azha

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has issued a stern warning that anti-national elements may attempt to disrupt peace during Eidul Azha. He has directed law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant and enhance security measures across the province.

Addressing a high-level security meeting, the IG emphasized the importance of strict surveillance at border crossings, river posts, and entry and exit routes. Officers were instructed to intensify checking of suspicious individuals and vehicles to prevent any untoward incidents. He stressed that maintaining law and order is paramount during the festivities.

The IG also ordered increased security at cattle markets and directed officials to monitor ongoing search, sweep, and combing operations using CCTV cameras. He emphasized the need for effective data management of criminals through e-police tools such as Smart Eye, Hotel Eye, and Travel Eye. Additionally, he warned against allowing banned and unregistered organizations to collect sacrificial hides or donations during Eid.

To ensure comprehensive security, the IG mandated immediate submission of relevant performance data from all officers. He further instructed continuous monitoring of sensitive areas and the use of advanced surveillance gadgets to prevent any breach of peace. Preventive measures and strict security protocols are to be enforced across all districts to guarantee a safe and peaceful Eid celebration.
