LAHORE: The Punjab government has efficiently resolved 1,005 land disputes within just 48 hours, setting a remarkable milestone under the newly implemented property ordinance.
This prompt action has delivered long-awaited justice to over 1,000 families who had been stuck in prolonged legal struggles concerning land ownership.
The breakthrough followed a pivotal meeting led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, during which Revenue Department officials provided an in-depth update on the implementation of the ordinance.
During the meeting, the chief minister underscored that priority would be given to cases involving women’s land rights. She firmly stated that once a decision is reached, immediate possession will be granted, with no tolerance for delays, favoritism, or negligence.
Land ownership, she noted, is only complete when the rightful owner physically possesses the property. Decisions must not remain confined to paperwork but must be executed on the ground. She also assured that rightful owners would retain full control over their property, whether it is a marla, kanal, or acre.
The chief minister encouraged citizens facing illegal occupation of their land or property to promptly approach their respective Deputy Commissioner’s office. She guaranteed that such cases would be resolved swiftly, often within days.
