Punjab’s budget for 2016-2017 of volume Rs 1681 billion presented

Budget for next fiscal year 2016-2017 of largest province of Pakistan, Punjab has been presented in provincial assembly and it is suggested in the budget to allocated more than 550 billion rupees for development projects.

Provincial minister Dr Aisha Ghous Pasha presented the budget in the Punjab Assembly. She said that overall income estimated at 1319 billion rupees and of whom 1040 billion rupees were shared from federal government while an amount of 184 billion rupees from provincial taxes and 95 billion rupees from other sources and 361 billion rupees have been taken as a loan for purchase of food items.

An amount of 312 billion rupees allocated for education, 150 billion rupees for health, for economics affair 424 billion rupees, for housing and community 81 billion rupees, for entertainment, culture and religion 6 billion rupees, for zakat and social welfare 10 billion rupees were allocated.

For payment of debt, purchase of food items, payment of interest, pensions and for general administration 488 billion rupees have been allocated.

An amount of 145 billion rupees allocated for peace and security of whom 101 billion rupees for police, for high court and other courts 18 billion, 700 million rupees, for administration of public order, rescue and emergency services 15 billion 700 million rupees while, for province’s jails 10 billion rupees and for civil defense 100 million rupees.

A figure of 210 billion rupees have been allocated for roads, bridges and transport, for farmers a package of 100 billion rupees allocated, for agriculture 52 billion rupees, for live stock 13 billion 600 million rupees, 40 billion for construction, for irrigation 54 billion rupees, for forests 6 billion rupees, for fisheries  one billion rupees, for food department 15 billion 700 million rupees, for energy sector 9 billion rupees, for industries 18 billion 800 million rupees, for minerals 2 billion 600 million rupees, for environmental protection 400 million rupees, an allocation of as many as 57 billion rupees are suggested for supply of clean water and sewerage
