DOHA: Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, along with Turkey’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalın, are expected to take part in Gaza ceasefire negotiations scheduled for Wednesday in Egypt.
Majid Al-Ansari, a spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, told Al Jazeera that the Qatari Prime Minister will meet with other key mediators, including U.S. Special Envoy Steve Wintrop and Jared Kushner, in Sharm El Sheikh.
Al-Ansari explained that these discussions aim to push forward the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and facilitate the release of hostages. He highlighted that Qatar’s participation underscores the determined efforts of the mediator countries to achieve a peaceful resolution.
As reported by Al Jazeera, Ibrahim Kalın, Turkey’s top intelligence official, will also be part of the Gaza negotiations set to occur tomorrow in Sharm El Sheikh.
Earlier, a Hamas representative told Al Jazeera that today’s negotiations in Sharm El Sheikh have wrapped up, focusing on matters such as hostage releases and the withdrawal of Israeli military forces.
The Hamas spokesperson added that the group has conditioned the release of all hostages on the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops, insisting that the last hostage will only be freed once Israeli forces fully exit Gaza.
