Qingqi rickshawas banned on 20 more roads of Karachi for a hiatus of two months

Karachi: Qingqi rickshawas are further banned on twenty roads of Karachi for a hiatus of two months.

The qingqi rickshaws will not be run on Malir Cantt, Shahr-e-Faisal, I-I Chundrigar Road while it will also be banned on Hassan Square, Rashid Minhas road, Drig road, Shara-e-Pakistan.

The decision has been taken to ease traffic congestion and enhance road safety.

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has enforced a two-month ban on small rickshaws across 20 major roads in the city.

The restriction applies to 1+2- and 1+4-seater vehicles, including traditional and Qingqi-style rickshaws, and will be in effect from June 16 to August 15, 2025.

This measure is part of the city’s broader traffic management plan to streamline movement during rush hours and reduce bottlenecks in high-density areas.

Strict Enforcement Announced
Police have been directed to take strict action against violators under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with disobedience of public orders. Citizens are urged to opt for alternate transport options and plan their routes accordingly.

This temporary rickshaw ban in Karachi is expected to improve urban mobility and provide some relief from persistent traffic gridlock during peak commuting times.
