Quetta Attack: Munir reaffirms Pakistan’s resilience, vows zero tolerance for terrorism

QUETTA: Following the recent terror attack near Quetta, Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief General Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s resilience, asserting that such heinous acts cannot diminish the nation’s determination. He pledged to pursue all terrorists and their facilitators with unwavering resolve.

On Sunday, at least 14 individuals, including three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, lost their lives in an explosion close to the railway tracks near Chaman Phatak in Quetta. Several others sustained injuries in the incident.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that Gen. Munir visited Zhob District in Balochistan to celebrate Eid ul-Adha with troops stationed along the western borders. Addressing the recent terror attack, allegedly orchestrated by Indian-backed factions such as Fitna-al-Hindustan and its proxies, he condemned the brutality and reaffirmed that such cowardly acts would not weaken the resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces or its people.

He emphasized that the morale of the soldiers and the resilience of the Pakistani nation remain strong. The military leadership, in coordination with law enforcement agencies and local communities, would relentlessly pursue all those involved in terrorism, he assured.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the blast, calling it a malicious attempt to harm Pakistan’s unity and divert attention from the country’s ongoing efforts for peace and stability.

During his visit, Gen. Munir performed Eid prayers along with officers and soldiers, offering special supplications for national peace, prosperity, and for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of the homeland. He praised the troops for their unwavering dedication, operational readiness, and vigilance in the face of foreign-sponsored terrorism.

Upon arrival, the chief was welcomed by the Commander of Quetta Corps. He laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada memorial, paying homage to the brave sons of Pakistan who laid down their lives to protect the nation.
