BEIJING: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that friendship with China is a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
He was talking to his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on the sidelines of SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting where the diplomats exchanged thoughts on mutual interests and current regional situation.
On this occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated country’s friendly stance on the relationship with China, calling the country Pakistan’s ‘close friend and a strong partner’.
“China’s character has always been commendable when it comes to either support to Pakistan on issues of national security or regional peace and stability”, Shah said.
He also congratulated his Chinese counterpart on the successful conduct of second Belt and Road Forum.
