LONDON: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday contacted his American counterpart Mike Pompeo via telephone here in London while they touched matters of mutual interest including bilateral relations and regional peace.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi briefed the USA counterpart about the initiative taken by Pakistan under the National Action Plan (NAP) while the two foreign ministers also deliberated implementation of the proposed initiative of Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Qureshi said that the Pak-US mutual relations are of vital importance for the promotion of peace and stability in the region adding that harmony between Pakistan and Afghanistan is getting better continuously.

He also briefed the US foreign secretary about Pakistan’s Premier Imran Khan meeting with Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on the occasion of Organization of Islamic Countries summit held in Saudi Arabia.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s expected visit to Pakistan is reflective that multilateral relations have been promoted between the two countries, Qureshi briefed.
