Lahore (August 15, 2018): Governor Punjab, Rafique Rajwana on Wednesday resigned from his post.

Speaking to reporters, Rajwana said he would return to his profession of being a lawyer after tendering his resignation.

Rajwana added that a new government had been formed and it should appoint the new governor of the province.

He stressed that his decision was made after consultation with the party [PML-N] leadership.

Rajwana was appointed as the 36th governor of Punjab in 2015, replacing Chaudhry Sarwar. It is expected that Sarwar who is the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s nominee now would be appointed as next governor of the province.Earlier on July 28, the Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair, who is affiliated with PML-N resign from his position.

After the defeat of PML-N in recent election its appointed governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair decided to leave the governor house and sent his resignation to President Mamnoon Hussain.

Muhammad Zubair was appointed as governor Sindh after the death of then governor Justice retired Saeed-u- Zaman Siddiqui.   Image result for governor sindh muhammad zubairZubair, brother of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar, had taken up the office as the 32nd Governor of Sindh in February of 2017.
