Rain washes out Pakistan’s sole warm-up match ahead of T20 World Cup

COLOMBO: Pakistan’s only preparatory match ahead to ICC T20 World Cup was unfortunately abandoned due to heavy rains.

The game, set to take place against Ireland in Colombo, was called off without a ball being bowled as relentless rain persisted throughout the day. As a result, the Pakistan squad missed out on an important opportunity to acclimate to the conditions they will encounter during the tournament.

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup journey will kick off on February 7 in Colombo, where they will face the Netherlands. The team is also scheduled to compete in two more group matches at the same venue—against the United States on February 10 and Namibia on February 18.

A highly anticipated fixture against arch-rivals India was scheduled for February 15 in Colombo; however, the Pakistani government has directed the team to refrain from playing against India in the group stages. This decision has sparked considerable discussion and is a key talking point as Pakistan prepares for the tournament.
