WEB DESK: Indian actress Rakhi Sawant has openly criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar following an incident where a Muslim woman’s veil was pulled, demanding a public apology from him for the act.
In a video shared on social media, Rakhi Sawant accused Nitish Kumar of disrespecting the woman under the guise of presenting an award. She expressed that the Chief Minister lacks awareness of Muslim culture and traditions, emphasizing that Islam requires women to maintain the practice of veiling, and no one has the right to interfere with it or violate their personal boundaries.
Rakhi Sawant referred to Nitish Kumar as a senior politician, stating that such an incident was unexpected and unacceptable from someone of his stature. She strongly remarked that if she were in the woman’s position, people should consider how outraged she would feel. She criticized the contradiction between celebrating women and humiliating them publicly, asserting that such behavior cannot be condoned.
Demanding immediate action, Sawant called on Nitish Kumar to address the affected woman before the media, acknowledge her as a sister, and apologize sincerely. She further stated that while she respects regions like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, cruelty, humiliation of women, and disregard for cultural practices like wearing a burqa are intolerable.
