Ramazan Moon Likely To Be Sighted On May 16: Met Office

Islamabad (May 08, 2018): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forcasted that the Ramazan moon is likely to be sighted on May 16 and the first day of the holy month will begin on May 17 (Thursday).

According to the met office, the moon for the holy month will born at 4:49 pm on May 15, the age of the new moon will be 26 hours and 45 minutes at the time of sighting on May 16.

The moon will be visible for 61 minutes after sunset, PMD added.

According to astronomical parameters, there is fair chance of sighting the new crescent of Ramazan, 1439 AH on the evening of May 16.

The Central Reut–e-Hilal Committee meeting is scheduled to be held on May 16 (Wednesday) in Islamabad.

Saudi Arabia and most Arab countries are expected to sight the Moon on May 15, according to Arabic Media.
