Ranveer Singh refuses King Khan to pay INR 0.4 billion for Don 3

WEB DESK: A recent behind-the-scenes clash between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment surrounding the much-anticipated Don 3 has taken a new turn, with the actor citing Shah Rukh Khan’s potential involvement as a reason for his reluctance to pay a 0.4 billion Indian rupees demand.

Don 3 was officially announced in 2023, with a teaser featuring Ranveer Singh stepping into the iconic role previously played by Shah Rukh Khan in the 2006 and 2011 installments. While pre-production activities had been underway last year, reports soon emerged that Ranveer had exited the project following disagreements over creative direction.

After his departure, Excel Entertainment reportedly sought a compensation of 0.4 billion from Ranveer, claiming expenses incurred during the pre-production phase. This led to two formal meetings mediated by the Producers Guild of India, where industry insiders examined both sides’ arguments.

Sources reveal that Ranveer strongly opposed the demand, asserting that he was not responsible for any financial liability since he had not accepted a payment for participating in Don 3.

A close source shared, “Ranveer Singh pointed out that he was also committed to a different project, Baiju Bawra, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He dedicated nearly a year preparing for that role, turning down other offers during this period. However, that project was ultimately shelved, and Bhansali shifted focus to Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. Ranveer clarified that he was not compensated for the time spent preparing, emphasizing that this is common in the industry—projects often get delayed or canceled, and actors are not always financially reimbursed for their efforts.”

He highlighted the industry norm where actors invest significant time and resources into projects that may never see completion, without expecting compensation if they don’t materialize.

Additionally, Ranveer mentioned ongoing rumors about Shah Rukh Khan being approached to reprise his role in Don 3.

The source explained, “Ranveer also noted reports suggesting SRK was being considered for Don 3. He argued that if Shah Rukh had agreed, he would have been replaced without any financial obligation, which further justifies his stance that he should not be held liable for the 40 crore demand.”

With both parties standing their ground, the future of Don 3 remains uncertain. Whether the franchise will proceed with a new lead, bring back Shah Rukh Khan, or stay on hold is yet to be decided. Industry insiders are closely watching as one of Bollywood’s most prominent action franchises faces its latest complication.
