Reality show ‘Lazawal Ishq’ challenge in Islamabad High Court.

ISLAMABAD: A legal petition has been submitted to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging the airing of the provocative reality series “Lazwal Ishq” the petition accuses the show of broadcasting content that is inappropriate and conflict with societal and religious norms.

The petition was filed by Muhammad Faiq, head of the Aman Taraqqi Party, who contends that Lazawal Ishq promotes behavior that undermines the moral values of the nation. He has called upon authorities to scrutinize the show’s content, which features men and women cohabiting in a villa, engaging in romantic interactions, and participating in various activities, all captured by cameras.

Lazawal Ishq is inspired by the Turkish reality show Ask Adasi. In his plea, Faiq has urged PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority) and PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) to oversee and regulate such content on digital and electronic platforms. He has also sought clarification from the court regarding the role of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) in monitoring and regulating content that may be deemed morally inappropriate.

Since the release of its promotional teaser, Lazawal Ishq has ignited widespread discussion on social media. Supporters have praised it as a progressive step for Pakistan’s entertainment scene, while critics have called for a boycott, labeling the show as immoral and against cultural values.

Although some individuals refer to it as a dating show, host Ayesha Omar has clarified that Lazawal Ishq is not classified as a traditional dating program, emphasizing its unique format.
