TEHRAN: Red flag of revenge has been hoisted over the Jamkaran Mosque in the Iranian city of Qom, amid ongoing Israeli military strikes in the region.
The red flag, a symbol traditionally signifying readiness for retaliation, signals Iran’s stance of resilience and willingness to respond to what it perceives as aggression.
This act of raising the red flag follows a pattern observed in recent years. Notably, the same flag was raised over the mosque after the death of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in September 2024, as well as following the assassination of IRGC special forces commander General Qasem Soleimani in January 2020.
The symbolism underscores the escalating tensions in the region, with Iran warning of possible heightened retaliatory actions in response to Israeli military operations.
