Reinstated MNAs, MPAs to receive additional One-Year salary

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentarians who had their membership suspended last year and have now been reinstated will be compensated with their full basic salaries for the period of suspension, parliamentary officials confirmed.

This move follows the suspension of 77 lawmakers on May 13, 2024, due to legal or procedural issues, which resulted in an immediate halt to their salaries. The new directive clarifies that those who have regained their seats after the Supreme Court’s decision will be paid for the suspension period, though they will not receive TADA (Traveling Allowance and Daily Allowance) or other allowances.

Details of Reinstatement and Salary Payment

Of the 22 suspended National Assembly members, 19 have been officially reinstated, while three seats are still pending resolution, sources indicated. The 19 reinstated MNAs will be entitled to a basic monthly salary of Rs150,000, covering the period from May 13, 2024, through December 31, 2024. Starting January 1, 2025, salaries will be adjusted based on any applicable increases, and payments will continue until the court’s final decision that reinstated them.

Similarly, 55 provincial assembly members who were suspended on the same date will also receive their basic salaries based on the salary structure outlined in their respective provincial laws.

No Additional Benefits

While the basic salaries will be paid, no TADA or other allowances will be provided during the suspension period, reaffirming the government’s commitment to fiscal responsibility while respecting the court’s rulings on reinstatement
