LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned on Monday the hearing of the review petition filed against the rejection of opposition leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif bail plea till February 7.
The two-member bench of LHC resumed hearing while Shehbaz lawyer Ak Dogar has made the federal government, NAB and Shehbaz Sharif as responded.
The petitioner told the court, in his plea, that the LHC’s decision to declare an appeal against Shahbaz’ arrest “non-maintainable” is “unlawful”.
“If an investigation is going on against someone, he cannot be arrested,” the petition said. Further, the petition reads: “The arrest of the suspect by NAB before the inquiry was completed and any crime was proved is against the Constitution.”
“Thus, the court should review its decision, approve the plea and grant bail,” the petition added.
He also mentioned that Shehbaz Sharif was arrested in Asiana Housing Scheme before the completion of the inquiry and he was also not given the free and fair trial right.
He requested the court that the rejection orders bail plea of Shahbaz and his arrest should be declared null and void.
