Remembering Sabeen Mahmud On 3rd Death Anniversary

Web Desk(April 24, 2018): It was April 24th, 2015, when the city of Karachi lost one of its bravest daughter Sabeen Mahmud. The human rights activist and owner of The Second Floor (T2F) cafe, was gunned down by terrorists when she was on her way to home.

Sabeen Mahmud was among those most outspoken human rights advocates of Pakistan who was silenced this day three years ago.

She was larger than life character and her dream was to change the world for the better through the internet and communication technologies and T2F was part of that dream.She was the peace activist and founder of the Second Floor (T2F). Mahmud was shot four times at close range, with bullets going through her shoulder, chest, and abdomen, when shortly after an event; she left for her home in Defence, Karachi.

Later on, she was brought to National Medical Centre and was pronounced dead on arrival.A group highly trained terrorists gunned her down for her showing her support for human rights. Along with human rights, she endorsed arts and culture wanted to flourish them in the country.

A graduate from IBA, Karachi, named Saad Aziz was the mastermind of Mahmud’s assassination. He belonged to a group of also highly educated people.

Sabeen Mahmud was born in Karachi and received her early education from Karachi Grammar School. She graduated from the Kinnaird College, Lahore.

Afterward, she returned to Karachi and founded her own small interactive media and technology-consulting firm. Later on, following her dream, she set-up T2F as part of her non-profit umbrella Peace Niche.
