London (January 20, 2018): Renowned Urdu poet Saqi Farooqi on Friday passed away at the age of 81 years in London.
Saqi Farooqi was a prominent UK-based Urdu and English poet. His works and writings in Urdu widely published around the world with several of his books winning awards and accolades.

Saqi Farooqi was born in Gorakhpur in 1936. His family migrated to East Pakistan and then to Karachi. He later moved to London.
Saqi has published several volumes of poetry, including one book in English, as well as substantial volume of literary criticism.
