Rescue operation for missing tourists in Gilgit-Baltistan concludes

G.BALTISTAN:  The incident involving the disappearance of tourists in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chilas area has reached a resolution.

The missing tourists, a family from Peshawar, included the parents, a son, and a daughter-in-law. After their disappearance, authorities took swift action, and police issued wireless messages to locate them.

Media coverage intensified the search, prompting rescue teams to scour the riverbanks. It was eventually discovered that the tourists’ vehicle had broken down near Babu Sar Top, where there was no network signal.The tourists chose not to contact their family or the police, considering it unnecessary, which caused considerable anxiety among their relatives and led to frantic efforts by the authorities.

According to a spokesperson for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, the vehicle had broken down near Babu Sar Top, and contact with the tourists was lost for two days. Using CCTV footage, authorities tracked their location and found the family near Babu Sar Top.During questioning by Gilgit-Baltistan police, the Peshawar tourists, including Osman, remained cheerful and explained that poor signal prevented communication with their families. They also mentioned that the police were nearby but were not informed of their situation.

The Gilgit-Baltistan government’s spokesperson advised tourists to stay in contact with their families and ensure their vehicles are registered at designated check posts for safety and tracking purposes.
