ISLAMABAD: The Senate unanimously passed a resolution against Indian actions.
Under the chairmanship of Senator Yousaf Raza Gillani, the Senate meeting’s routine proceedings were suspended, during which a resolution against Indian actions was unanimously passed. The resolution was presented in the Senate by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
The text of the resolution stated that Pakistan rejects the allegations linking it to the Pahalgam incident, asserting that the Indian government is running a malicious campaign. It called for holding India accountable for terrorism in other countries, including Pakistan, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for Kashmir.
In this context, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar stated that the Indus Waters Treaty cannot be unilaterally suspended, as it specifies that it can only be terminated by mutual consent. He emphasized that water is the lifeline for 240 million Pakistanis and mentioned that the National Security Committee had already stated that cutting off water would be tantamount to war.
Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz expressed that, the resolution sends a unified message from the House to its adversaries, stating that India has been looking for ways to harm Pakistan. He highlighted that India’s desire to defame Pakistan has not been fulfilled and that India has opposed Pakistan at every international forum.
